Dad's RIH
In the late 70's my father bought a new bicycle after years of biking on a cheap Mercier.
He purchased from the center of Amsterdam, a RIH bicycle, and had it tailor made.
It was a very expensive bike for that time, and lots of people came over to have a look.
Even people in the streets looked at it because this was the bike that the professionals
used in those days.
After years of good use my father, when he became 70 years of age, bought a normal
street bike.
The RIH was standing in the garage for years before I took it home to restore.
With help from RIH, it was taken back to the high standard, and was totally repainted.
We also replaced some parts of the frame to bring it to the mid 80's style.
The RIH was built up with all new Croce d' Aune parts from Campagnolo.
At this moment I am still shifting with a
Modolo STI set and working to fit a Campagnolo STI set.
After this project I started to like the rebuilding of old racing bikes, and had found a lot of information on the internet.
You can find more links on my links page about old racing bikes, I will be updating this
regularly.
Phillips
I bought and sold other bikes, and started to look for even older and more rare models.
Then I located a 1947 Phillips, which needed a lot of work, and had many missing parts.
On the frame I found more than 7 layers of different paint before I got down to the original paint.
It took 7 months to bring it back to its original shape.
The new steering is covered with shellac for the real old look.
J.R.QUINN
I bought a J.R.QUINN from it's first
owner, who had used it daily for years.
It is an All Campagnolo bike, except for the Stronglight crank set.
The whole bike is in stunning condition and all parts look like new.
The paint is so good that it only need some work on the small chips.
The new steering is covered with shellac for the real old look.
